Waiting for your legal problem to get worse 04/03 by Tony Reeves - JD MPH BS | Social Networking

You’d be surprised the number of times people will roll the dice and make them be calculated the population that they are going to wait until their legal situation gets worse before they bring it to the attention of their attorney. It’s not that they don’t think it’ll go away but they have decided that the cost of bringing it to the attention of their attorney now as opposed to waiting until it gets much worse is better to do it that way.

I don’t give me wrong. There are times when people may get it right by doing it this way. But as an attorney, this used to drive me nuts. Because, invariably when it does become worse, a problem that could have been easily resolved when it was not that bad has now become so complicated that it’s almost become a bigger problem onto itself.

I’m not saying that you shouldn’t wait. You can only do what works best for you. I just often tell people to not be surprise that when it becomes worse or if it becomes worse, it may make their current case harder and it may cost them more money to fix it.
